HUS's story began in a small, intimate cafe where three friends met. On a winter morning, we sat down for tea and before we knew it, an inconspicuous and casual conversation turned into a daring plan. We all missed being close to nature, and an idea for a project that would reconcile architecture and design with love for nature was slowly emerging in our heads. Our HUS (or HOME in Swedish) allows you to combine city life with an unbridled appetite for silence and open space. You can escape from Warsaw within an hour. And then? Take a bath in a wooden tub on the terrace, take a walk along the picturesque banks of the Narew River, or light a bonfire and enjoy the company of friends. Feed your eyes with an unrivaled nature series, broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and displayed on a 254-inch monitor, also known as a panoramic window. You don't even want to look at other screens, they won't beat this anyway. Our goal is that at HUS you can slow down, live differently for a while and regain your balance. But it wasn't just about having SOME place for asylum. The idea was to create a house that could be built with respect for nature. That's why we didn't cut corners - we kept construction chemicals to a minimum and preserved the boards using natural linseed oil and burning them with live fire, according to the ancient Japanese Yakisugi method. Thanks to this, HUS is what we dreamed of it. Not only is he close to nature, but he has deep roots in it.
Where will I sleep?
In an eco-friendly house, designed to be simple and pleasant to live in. We fit a lot of good stuff into 35 square meters. The heart of HUS is the living room with a fireplace and a huge window overlooking the meadow (the sofa offers two additional sleeping places). Next to this is the kitchenette with dining area, and further on is the sleeping area with two large double beds on two levels - you have to climb up the rungs on one. Adjacent to the bedroom is a bathroom with a shower (there is also a hairdryer) and a two-person Finnish sauna. The deep relaxation zone is complemented by a terrace area with a wooden tub used for ritual baths. They are enriched by local views: field hares, the Big Dipper and sunsets. HUS is located in a meadow and doesn't really even have an exact address. It is located in Strzyże, about 10 km from Pułtusk. Forests loom on the horizon, and you can walk to the wild bank of the Narew River in a few minutes. The location in the middle of nowhere has its charms: silence, peace, the presence of animals and the absence of people. You can take your dog, but keep an eye on him - the HUS area is not fenced.
What will I eat?
HUS's kitchenette is the sanctuary of a clever chef who, like a Japanese master, will be able to prepare the most exquisite dishes in the world on an eighty-centimeter kitchen counter. There are basic equipment, pots, a kettle and a French press, because you can't miss good coffee to sip on the terrace. There is also an original option in the living room: a "goat" fireplace is equipped with a hob on which you can cook something grandma's way. If you have no experience in fishing or you simply lack patience and luck, near HUS you will find a wonderful Rybaczówka (1 km), where you can taste local delicacies. The nearest shop is 4 km away.
Won't I be bored?
The meadow is the perfect place for lazy afternoons! Spread out a blanket and let your body absorb dizzying doses of vitamin D. Organize a picnic for the family. Play football or play catch with the children. Or maybe you prefer yoga in an open space or dancing under the stars? Relax as you like, in the pleasant company of crickets and field hares. The equipment includes time-savers: games, a hammock and deckchairs. However, the world (of HUS) does not end in the meadow. You only need a few minutes to be on the banks of the Narew River, and there you can do whatever you like: walking, Nordic walking, bicycle trips, cross-country skiing. These are peaceful and pleasing areas, perfect for relaxation and a walk with your dog. You can also fish, so if you have a fishing rod, don't hesitate to use it. In winter you can meet real (human) walruses here and even join them. What else does the area offer? People go to the nearby forests to pick berries and mushrooms. All horse lovers will be happy that it is also close to a stud farm. Balloon flights are organized near HUS - if you want, we will tell you how to find them. The local Kurpie architecture of the surrounding villages is a real treat for many hikers. We have prepared a map for you with marked paths of our favorite walking routes and objects worth your attention. As a short break, you can go to Pułtusk, 10 km away, which has unexpected attractions. In addition to the former castle of the bishops of Płock and - note - the longest market square in Europe, you can also enjoy cruises on popular gondolas, and in summer also reconstruction events where you can meet hussars. And if you are rushing even further, we suggest going to the lake in Serock (25 km from the cottage) for summer swimming.
And what about children?
Our observations show that children often need space, a free hand to discover the secrets of their surroundings and some sun to be happy. Moreover, they feel fantastic in a tub of lukewarm water filled to the brim with their favorite toys. A stay at HUS is a good opportunity to check if they know all the games from their parents' childhood. Berek, 1,2,3 Baba Yaga is watching, 2 fires, 3 stripes? Maybe you will go hiking together or build a hut? All fun is allowed, plenty of places, and beautiful surroundings. We want children to feel good with us, that's why we create new attractions for them - a swing or a sandbox in front of the house, and on rainy days they can take out board games hidden in the HUS. For the most active huskers, there is also the opportunity to go horse riding.
