Where will I sleep?
In an eco-friendly house, designed to be simple and pleasant to live in. We've fit a lot of good stuff into 35 square metres. The heart of HUS is the living room with a fireplace and a huge window overlooking the meadow (the sofa offers two extra sleeping places). Next to this is the kitchenette with dining area, and further on is the bedroom area with two large double beds on two levels - you have to climb up the rungs for one. Adjacent to the bedroom is a bathroom with a shower (there is also a hairdryer) and a two-person Finnish sauna. The deep relaxation zone is complemented by a terrace area with a wooden tub used for ritual baths. These are enriched by local views: field hares, the Great Trough and sunsets. HUS stands in a meadow and in fact does not even have an exact address. It is located in the village of Strzyże, about 10 km from Pułtusk. Forests loom on the horizon and the wild banks of the Narew River can be reached in a few minutes. The location in the middle of nowhere has its charms: silence, peace, the presence of animals and the absence of people. You can bring your pooch, but keep an eye on him - HUS's grounds are not fenced.
What will I eat?
HUS's kitchenette is a sanctuary for a clever chef who, like a Japanese master, will be able to prepare the world's most exquisite dishes on an eighty-centimetre kitchen counter. There are basic utensils, pots and pans, a kettle and a french press - after all, there can be no shortage of good coffee to sip on the terrace. There's also an original option in the living room: the "goat" type fireplace is equipped with a hob where you can cook something grandma's way. If you are inexperienced in fishing or simply lack patience and luck, there is a wonderful Fish House (1km) near HUS where you can enjoy local delicacies. The lodge is 4km from the nearest shop.
Will I not be bored?
The meadow is the perfect place for lazy afternoons! Spread out a blanket and let your body absorb a dizzying dose of vitamin D. Organise a picnic for the family. Play a game of soccer or play trick-or-treating with the kids. Or maybe you prefer yoga in the open air or dancing under the stars? Relax as much as you like in the pleasant company of crickets and field hares. The amenities include games, a hammock and deckchairs. But the (HUS) world does not end in the meadow. Just a few minutes away is the bank of the Narew River, where you can do whatever you like: walks, Nordic walking, cycling and cross-country skiing. It's a peaceful and pleasant area, perfect for a quiet moment or a stroll with your dog. You can also fish, so if you have a fishing rod - don't hesitate to use it. In winter you can meet the truest (human) walruses here and even join them. What else does the area offer? You can go to the nearby forests to pick berries and mushrooms. Horse lovers will be pleased to know that a stud farm is also close by. Nearby HUS organises balloon flights - if you want we can tell you how to find them. The local Kurpie architecture of the surrounding villages is quite a treat for many a wanderer. We have prepared a map for you with the marked paths of our favourite walking trails and objects worth your attention. As an interlude, you can hop over to Pultusk, 10km away, which hides unexpected attractions. In addition to the former castle of the Plock bishops and - beware - the longest market square in Europe, popular gondola cruises await you here, and in the summer there are also re-enactment events where you can meet hussars. And if you are driven even further afield, we suggest jumping on the lake to Serock (25km from the cottage) for a summer swim.
And what about for the children?
From our observations, children often only need space, a free hand to explore the mysteries of their surroundings and some sunshine to be happy. Moreover, they feel fantastic in a ball of summer water filled to the brim with their favourite toys. A stay at HUS is a good opportunity to see if they know all the games from their parents' childhood. Berekka, 1,2,3 Baba Yaga looks, 2 fire, 3 stripes? Or perhaps you could organise a joint trick-or-treating party or build a hut? All games allowed, plenty of space and beautiful surroundings. We want the kids to feel good at our place, so we create new attractions for them - a swing or a sandpit in front of the house, and on rainy days they can take out the board games hidden in the HUS. For the most active hussies, there is also the possibility of a horse ride.
